CSR Policies

Senju Metal Industry operates under the following labor, ethics, heath and safety, and environment policies.

Labor

1. Freely Chosen Employment

Forced or slave labor shall not be used.

 2. Prohibition of Child Labor

Under-age workers shall not be hired.

3. Working Hours

All employee work hours are to be monitored and controlled in order to ensure compliance to legal statutes and to improve and maintain a healthy lifestyle for each employee.

4. Wages and Benefits

At a minimum, the legal minimum wage is to be paid to all workers and deductions from wages as a disciplinary measure are strictly prohibited.

5. Humane Treatment

Abuse, coercion and/or sexual harassment will not be permitted.

6. Non-discrimination

Discrimination based on age, race, sex, religion or sexual orientation is strictly prohibited.

7. Freedom of Association

The company will actively communicate with workers through a labor committee representing employees.

Ethics

1. Business Integrity

Any and all forms of corruption, extortion and embezzlement shall be prohibited.

2. No Improper Advantages

Bribes or other means of obtaining undue or improper advantages are not to be offered or accepted.

3. Disclosure of Information

All information pertaining to business activities, corporate structure, and financial situations are to be publicly disclosed.

4. Intellectual Property

The intellectual property rights of our customers are to be respected.

5. Fair Business

Standards supporting fair business, advertising and competition are to be upheld.

6. Protection of Identity

Programs to ensure the confidentiality and protection of any employee whistleblowers are to be maintained.

Health and Safety

1. Occupational Safety

Proactively prevent accidents by eliminating potential safety hazards through preventative maintenance and risk assessment.

2. Emergency Preparedness

Emergency plans and response procedures for natural disasters (earthquake, fire, flood) shall be established. Preventative actions for pandemics such as the new-influenza virus shall be defined.

3. Occupational Injury and Illness

A periodical medical check shall be conducted. Procedures and systems are to be put in place for occupational injury and illness including reporting, treatment and counseling.

4. Industrial Hygiene

Industrial hygiene is to be upheld by engineering or administrative controls in order to prevent the overexposure of workers to chemical, biological and physical agents.

5. Physically Demanding Work

For workers exposed to physically demanding tasks such as heavy lifting and/or highly repetitive tasks performed over a long period of time, personal protective equipment and/or appropriate rest time is to be provided.

6. Machine Safeguarding

Appropriate safety measures for production and other machinery is to be provided and properly maintained including physical guards, interlocks and barriers.

7. Sanitation, Food and Housing

Worker dormitories and eating areas are to be maintained to be both clean and safe.

Environment

1. Environmental Permits and Reporting

All legally required environmental permits are to be obtained and all reporting requirements are to be followed.

2. Pollution Prevention

Energy and other natural resources are to be preserved, waste of all types is to be reduced.

3. Hazardous Substance

Chemicals and other materials posing a hazard if released into the environment are to be handled, stored, recycled and disposed of safely in order to protect human health and the environment.

4. Wastewater and Solid Waste

The discharge route and disposal methods of wastewater and solid waste are to be monitored in order to protect the environment.

5. Air Emission

Combustion gases generated from operations are to be reduced  in order to protect against air pollution.

6. Product Content Restrictions

All specific substances defined by applicable laws and regulations are to be controlled for all products.

7. Green House Gases

Green House Gases (CO2) are to be reduced.
